I have dedicated most of my career to the financial management of healthcare and social service community-based organizations. At a higher level, I firmly believe that the Finance department is a service area where the main stakeholders are internal (Program Directors, Boards, and Committees) and external (governmental regulations and auditors).
I pride myself on always wanting to do more than what is expected of my employer(s), family, and friends. I have always believed that education is the key to success regardless of when you begin your studies. An example is when I decided to obtain my MBA at a relatively late stage in my career (55); I was nearly 25 years older than all my classmates.
The goals I set for myself and others have always been realistic, though challenging– nothing of real value is achieved if it is simple to accomplish. It is also well known that accurate results occur in teams when all are engaged in a common organizational goal. I credit my success to hard work, self-drive, a love of helping others, lessons imparted by my father, a Holocaust survivor, continuous learning, even from mistakes made, and perseverance.
I am fortunate to have been part of many successful teams. I have cultivated a very immersive style of participative management that I am most proud of. I manage with a smile, a mentor to many staff, respectful to all, with an open-door policy, and with chocolates at the ready (dark only!) when I greet guests at my office.
In addition to my MBA from the University of Central Florida, I am an Associate Member of the NYS Society of CPAs, a Pace University graduate with a BBA in Public Accounting, and a proud current Marquis Who’s Who. I have been happily married for over 17 years, and with my wife, Lily, I proudly care for a very talented daughter who currently attends Duke University.
