About Independent Living, Inc.
Independent Living, Inc. is a locally controlled, nonprofit agency operated by people with disabilities for people with disabilities. With a steadfast commitment to our community, we focus on supporting people of all ages with disabilities, their families, and businesses, agencies, and municipalities. Our agency offers over 35 comprehensive programs and services designed to empower people to live independently, make informed care choices, and maintain autonomy, fostering a sense of reassurance and confidence.
Since 1987, we have served as a common voice for people with disabilities living in Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam, Sullivan, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.
We are dedicated to advocating for the removal of physical and attitudinal barriers, and we strive to assist people with disabilities in their journey towards independence. Grounded in the values of the peer services movement, we are proud to be led by personal experiences and to include experts from diverse fields. We value our role as trusted peers, partners, and collaborators, offering guidance to numerous organizations throughout the Hudson Valley in the realm of disability supports and services.
We are here to act as a bridge that empowers people, regardless of age or disability, to achieve their full potential and thrive in a society that is fully accessible and free of barriers. We are here to offer support and encouragement, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Our Mission: Independent Living, Inc. is a consumer-directed, cross-disability advocacy and service organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Our Vision is a barrier-free society with opportunities for all people to achieve their maximum potential.
