4th Annual Fundraising Breakfast

Over 250 friends, supporters and service recipients attended our 4th annual fundraising breakfast on October 5th at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor, NY. The theme was “People First: Embracing Challenges in Uncertain Times.”
Attendees heard eloquent presentations from service recipients: Frank Gaudioso, who has a visual impairment, spoke about how important the monthly support group has been to him. Phyllis Stokes, parent and care coordinator for her son, Michael, who receives home care services through our OPTIONS program, shared her family’s experience adapting to their “new normal” since Michael was severely injured in a fire.
Executive Director, Doug Hovey, shared the good news regarding our two new Centers in Middletown and Monticello, illustrating the importance of making our services even more accessible to the communities we serve with examples of how Independent Living has assisted individuals in the areas of employment, housing, and assistive technology, as well as people with mental illness who would otherwise be repeatedly hospitalized.
Special thanks to our sponsors for all their support and generosity to help make this event successful: Provident Bank, Ulster Savings Bank; Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, D&D Mailing Services, Michael Kanakis, photographer, McGowan Art Works, LaBean Coffee and Prisms Promotions.
